Western Digital’s bread and butter is (and will likely remain) storage, but as we all know, all the storage in the world is useless if you can’t access it. It only makes sense, then, that the company would get behind the HomePlug bandwagon for networking all your connected devices over your home’s existing electrical power lines. The WD Livewire Powerline AV Network Kit includes two HomePlug AV adapters with four Ethernet ports each, boasting data transfer speeds up to 200 megabits per second. JVC intros Picsio GC-WP10 and GC-FM2 1080p pocket camcorders

JVC’s been a mainstay in the handheld camcorder realm, but along with Sony, Kodak, Sanyo, Samsung and just about every other consumer electronics company in operation today, it’s recently decided to hop onboard the pocket camcorder bandwagon. Today, the firm is introducing a diminutive duo in the Picsio GC-WP10 and GC-FM2, both of which are capable of logging 1,920 x 1,080/30fps clips. There’s also inbuilt image stabilization, an HDMI output, a 3-inch rear touchscreen, compatibility with EyeFi’s WiFi-enabled SD cards and a time-lapse recording feature for speeding things up on the fly. The WP10 steps it up a notch by being encased in a waterproof enclosure, though the omission of an optical zoomer puts somewhat of a damper on things. Both units also boast a pop-out USB plug and an SD / SDHC / SDXC card slot, and the WP10 also adds an MP3 audio recorder for good measure. Bose intros IE2, MIE2 and MIE2i in-ear headphones, only charges an arm for ‘em

In an obvious non-Bose move, the company has just outed a trio of products that actually seem reasonably priced. Of course, it’s not like the outfit is suddenly catering to the low-end market, but those willing to pay a Benjamin or so for a decent set of ‘buds now have three more to consider. The IE2 has been engineered for portable media players, while the MIE2 and MIE2i are both designed to handle calls and tunes. The latter, as you’d surmise, is designed specifically to control a range of iDevices, though the whole group ships with StayHear tips that supposedly stay lodged for longer regardless of activity. Curiously, none of these offer noise cancelling or sound isolating technologies, and naturally, Bose isn’t handing over any of those pesky specification details. The IE2 is expected on store shelves on August 23rd for $99.95, while the MIE2 ships on the same date for $30; as for the MIE2i, that one will surface in October for $129.95.

Panasonic intros 42- and 50-inch 3D Viera GT25 plasma sets, its first with 2D-to-3D conversion

If you thought you could crawl in a corner and wait for this 3D onslaught to pass, you may be camped out for some time to come. Panasonic is following up on its CES introductions with a new pair of 3D plasmas for the gaming set, the Viera 3D GT25 range. Said series is debuting with a pair to choose from, the 50-inch TC-P50GT25 and the 42-inch TC-P42G25. The latter is Panny’s first-ever 42-inch Full HD 3D plasma, and as you’d expect, both of these guys will require active shutter glasses in order to operate. As for specs? You’re looking at a 1080p panel, 600Hz sub-field drive, 24p playback and (a company first) 2D-to-3D conversion that may or may not be the answer to all of life’s problems. Or maybe they’ll just do what Sony and Samsung have already been doing. The duo should be on retail shelves by the end of this month, with the little guy going for $1,699.95 and the big(ger) guy for $2,099.95.

Runco intros 3D-ready Signature Cinema projectors: $90k+, still require glasses

“Runco” and “cheap” have never, ever been used correctly in the same sentence before, but being elite apparently doesn’t mean that you can just turn a blind eye to rambling bandwagons. With just about every other projection company flipping out 3D-ready alternatives, Runco has decided it best to follow suit. The company has just added a fanciful pair of PJs to its Signature Cinema line, with the SC-50d and SC-60d both offering 3D playback with support for Active3D (active shutter) or passive glassed-based solutions. The duo also packs a 3-chip system that outputs 1080p natively, and these are also the company’s first projectors to include its Smart Lens system — which offers a controllable motorized lens and iris that can be preset in memory. Hit the source links if you’re interested in learning more about the Fall-bound pair, but be sure you’re willing to pay upwards of $88,995 before wasting the bandwidth.

Sharp intros first 100GB BDXL discs, Japan gets first dibs on July 30

It took a little while after the BDXL specification was finalized, but here’s Sharp busting down the door to expanded storage with the first official products adhering to said spec. The new VR-100BR1 discs will use triple-layer fairy dust to squish 100GB of data inside, and Akihabara News reports that they’ll be swiftly followed by quad-layer 128GB variants as well. Of course, every shiny new toy comes at a price, which in this case will be ¥5,000 per disc — that equates to $57 and makes us wonder why we wouldn’t just buy an external HDD with that cash. Perhaps because the slinky new Blu-ray media will be playable in that shiny new Sharp Blu-ray DVR you just bought? You did buy a Sharp DVR, right? Because the BD-HDW700/70 are the only models that will support these, at least for the moment.

Clearwire intros new WiMAX mobile hotspots, Mac-friendly 3G / 4G USB WWAN modem

Lookin’ for yet another avenue to hop on the 4G superhighway? Fret not, as Clearwire has just doled out a trio of new products intended to help you do just that. Prior to today, you had only a smattering of options to actually tap into Clear’s WiMAX network, but the Clear Spot 4G (WiMAX only), Clear Spot 4G+ (dual-mode with 3G / 4G support) and Clear 4G+ Mobile USB stick have all arrived to give choosy moms more choices. The prior two are simply mobile broadband hotspots (think MiFi, but for 4G), with the 4G+ offering support for Sprint’s 3G network if you happen to leave one of those few WiMAX zones already lit. The USB stick is particularly interesting, as it’s the first dual-mode device hawked by Clear that’s fully compatible with Apple OS X. The Clear Spot 4G will be made by InfoMark and available to purchase for $99.99 next month; those who hate committing can also lease one for $4.99 per month. The Sierra Wireless-built Spot 4G+ (a rebadged Overdrive; shown left) demands a hefty premium for that 3G support, with an MSRP of $224.99 (or least for $5.99 per month) and a similar July ship date. The 4G+ Mobile USB stick (shown right) will support OS X 10.5.x and 10.6.x (along with Windows, of course), and can be snapped up today for $114.99 or leased monthly for $5.99. Synaptics intros ClickEQ, multi-finger TouchPad-IS trackpad solutions

Synaptics has been a serious roll of late, first introducing those luscious multitouch gestures to older trackpads, and last month extending its Gesture Suite to Linux and Chrome OS. Here at Computex, the company is expanding its TouchPad family of solutions, with the multi-finger PC TouchPad-IS range seeing the first update. Aside from being able to recognize four-finger gestures, the new platform prevents accidental activation of the cursor when a user’s palm unintentionally contacts the TouchPad, and it also brings the aforementioned multi-finger capabilities of a touchscreen right onto a PC’s trackpad. Next up is the new ClickEQ, which is hailed as the “industry’s first hinge-less uniform force, uniform click depth ClickPad mechanical design.” As you’d expect, this feels an awful lot like the glass trackpad that Apple’s freshest MacBooks have, but you won’t find us kvetching about getting a similar technology onto run-of-the-mill laptops and netbooks.

Moving on, the company is also introducing new OEM customization capabilities for Synaptics gesture workflow technology, Scrybe, which will allow users to store specific trackpad settings and references so the whole family can control the laptop their own way. Sadly, there’s no published ship date for any of these whiz-bang contraptions, but we’re cautiously hoping to see it implemented in at least prototype form as we scour the show floor.

MSI follows fate’s whispers, intros 24-inch Wind Top AE2420 3D

Typical, right? As the 3D craze flows from the cinema to the television and onto the PC, it was just a matter of time before one of MSI’s Wind Top all-in-ones shipped with support for the third dimension. By most accounts, the new Wind Top AE2420 3D looks like a mildly larger version of the AE2220 we peeked late last year, touting a 24-inch 1080p multitouch panel, support for shutter glasses (a single pair is included), Core i5 or i7 CPU options and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD5730 pushing the pixels. There’s also a pair of 5-watt speakers built-in, not to mention an Ethernet jack, VGA output and a handful of USB 2.0 sockets. Mum’s the word on pricing, but MSI is expected to have this bad boy on display as Computex kicks off early next week. Yeah, you know we’ll be there pretending to be embarrassed while donning the spectacles.

Still weeping over the fact that your iPad won’t charge on that 2002 Latitude your company refuses to replace? Take heart, young buck. Scosche understands your frustrations, and it’s out to make coping somewhat easier with the Revive II dual-USB chargers. With one for the car and one for the home, you’ll most likely never, ever be in a location where your iPad can’t be juiced. In case you haven’t guessed, one of the USB ports on each charger is of the high-power variety, while the other will happily charge your iPhone, iPod or nearly any other USB-infused gadget that’s smaller than a 9.7-inch tablet PC. Both of ‘em are up for pre-order now through the company’s website, though the $24.99 (car) and $29.99 (home) price tags do feel a touch steep.
