Canon EOS 7D joins fleet in receiving firmware update to fix manual exposure movie bug

Category: Industry Happeningsadmin @ 9:17 pm

Fixes a phenomenon in which the set aperture moves when shooting movies in manual exposure mode using some Canon lenses (such as macro lenses).” If you’ve got a 5D Mark II, 1D Mark IV, or Rebel T2i handy and have been keeping its firmware fresh, that phrase should be all too familiar; all three of those shooters have received updates in the past two months to fix such an issue, and now it’s time for the EOS 7D to get a fix all its own. Our darling budding filmmakers’ tool is also getting a few tweaks with AF point display and selection, and the multilingual copy editors of this world can breathe a deep sigh of relief as typos in the Spanish and Thai menus have been corrected. Well, what are you waiting for? Focus your lens on Canon’s website and download away.

Ubuntu joins Android on Nexus One, apocalyptic repercussions nowhere to be found

Category: Industry Happeningsadmin @ 6:17 pm

Ever wondered what would happen if you threw another mobile OS onto your Nexus One? Without removing Android? Contrary to popular belief, the world will in fact not end, and in many cases, lives could very well be improved. One particular modder over at Nexus One Hacks has managed to put together a video how-to demonstrating the installation of Ubuntu as a secondary OS on his rooted N1, and while you’ll obviously find yourself dealing with a few incompatibilities should you follow suit, it’s not like you really have anything better to do tonight than tinker. Right? Right. Jump on past the break and mash play to get going.

Sony VAIO J joins the touchscreen all-in-one ranks

Category: Industry Happeningsadmin @ 8:20 am

On the surface it doesn’t look like much separates Sony’s new 21.5-inch VAIO J all-in-one from the growing number of touchscreen AIOs on the market, but it’s definitely one of the more head-turning options out there. Like its 24-inch L Series, the VAIO J has a 1920×1080-resolution display and a Blu-ray drive, but the larger model now packs a 2.66GHz Intel Core i7-620M CPU, up to 8GB of RAM, and NVIDIA discrete graphics options with 512 vRAM. It also has a 7,200rpm 500GB hard drive and boots Windows 7 Premium, though Sony has added its touch-friendly Media Gallery software layer. The best news? While the L starts at $1,300, the J will arrive next month with a $900 starting price. Sure, there are cheaper models out there, but when doesn’t Sony demand a few extra bucks for its good looks? On that note, we’ll leave you with some polished press shots and the full PR after the break.

Sanyo Xacti DMX-CA100 joins the ‘waterproof pocket HD camcorder’ crew

Category: Industry Happeningsadmin @ 1:17 am

Sure, Sanyo’s PR claims this camera is the “world’s first waterproof full HD camera,” but unfortunately for them Kodak beat them to the punch. A caveat at the bottom of the PR clarifies that this claim was merely meant for “Full HD video cameras for consumer use with optical zoom lenses,” which naturally makes everything better. Plus there’s not point in getting down on Sanyo, since it’s essentially delivered its classic Xacti form factor and middle-of-the-road image quality in a waterproof (up to 10 feet) chassis. The DMX-CA100 will be launched at the end of june for some unnamed price, and shoots 1080p video to H.264, 14 megapixel stills, and offers a 6x optical zoom augmented by a 6x “Advanced Zoom” that crops the image sensor instead of just blowing up the pixels like a regular digital zoom.

Samsung G800 Joins T-mobile – Samsung Sgh G800 UK

Category: T-Mobileadmin @ 9:23 pm

After the success of the Samsung G600 the manufacturer has now launched a direct upgrade, the Samsung G800.

Although very different in appearance, the new Samsung G800 still features a 5. 0 megapixel camera however the new handset has had some extra technology added to its portfolio.

Originally released on O2 and Vodafone the Samsung G800 has now made its way onto the T-Mobile UK network, this is good news for consumers as the new network offers a mix of minutes and text rather than the set amounts offered by the other networks.

Briefly, T-Mobile charge a monthly line rental charge which then comes with a set monetary amount of minutes and text, this means that the customer can use this amount for both minutes and text until the amount has been exhausted and charges will be applied.

With the other UK networks customers are given a set amount of minutes and text so even if all og the minutes have been used and the customer still has lots of text messages left the network will still start to charge for the extra minutes.

T-Mobile have named these tariffs Flext which means flexible, very apt and very good value for consumers.

The Samsung G800 has a 5 megapixel camera with auto focus, 3x optical zoom and xenon flash. The camera is the most advanced to date on a Samsung phone, it has digital image stabilisation, red-eye reduction, wide dynamic range and face detection. The special casing ensures good grip, and the lens and flash are protected by a stylish lens lid. The G800 is a 3G phone, which means fast web browsing, video streaming and music downloads. It also has HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) for even higher data downloads with speeds of up to 3. 6 Mbit/sec. Other features include TV out for viewing images and videos on your big screen, FM Radio, a good music player, decent video recording and a unique dual Bluetooth mode which means you can connect to another Bluetooth device while you are listening to music wirelessly.

So with the launch of the new Samsung G800 on T-Mobile customers benefit from both the latest mobile phones camera technology and great value tariffs.

The Samsung G800 is one of many 5. 0 megapixel camera phones to be recently released, if you would like any further information please visit our online mobile phones shop.

Samsung Omnia White Joins the Samsung I900 Omnia 8gb and 16gb

Category: Samsungadmin @ 3:41 pm

A new colour variant of the Samsung Omnia has now been launched in the UK, the Samsung Omnia White edition has been made available on Vodafone and joins the existing i900 8GB and 16GB models.

The online pictures of the new White Samsung Omnia are a little misleading as most show a view from the front of the phone which looks exactly the same as the other two models, however it is the sides and the rear of the handset that now sport the new white colour giving the Samsung i900 Omnia an almost iPod-esq look.

The new White version is an exact match of the current Samsung Omnia with 8GB of memory and not the larger 16GB in terms of features, design and technology. All of the same great menu options can be found in all three devices nd this latest case it is only the exterior of the handset that has changed.

The difference between the Samsung Omnia 8GB and 16GB is purely as the names state, the only change being the extended inetrnal memory of the latter.

Initially launched on Vodafone the new Samsung Omnia White can only be connected to one of the networks tariffs, however this new device is expected to be offered on further UK networks in the very near future.

Smartphones just got stylish with the new Samsung Omnia White. The Omnia runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 with a 3.2″ touch screen display and has a built in GPS receiver for SatNav. Packed inside the compact mobile phone is a sharp 5.0 megapixel camera with autofocus, image stabiliser, a bright flash and video recorder.

Certified support for the DivX video format (a first for a Windows Mobile phone), Bluetooth v2.0, 3G HSDPA mobile broadband connectivity for super fast downloads and a secondary video calling camera are also included. The impressive touch screen makes navigating on the Samsung Omnia simple and with 8GB of on board memory, you won’t be short of things to do.

Including a built in 5.0 megapixel camera, with auto focus, image stabiliser and face detection, the Samsung Omnia takes quality pictures that you will want to share with your friends and family.

The White Samsung Omnia features 3G which stands for third generation, and the system is the third generation in the evolution of mobile networks, after analogue and GSM. 3G offers high speed data transfers and the ability to make video calls between compatible mobile phones.

Bluetooth 2.0 is the next generation of Bluetooth connectivity. With Bluetooth 2.0 one of the biggest advantages is the possibility of listening to music on the Omnia with a compatible wireless headset in stereo. Less wires, less mess, more noise.

The Samsung i900 8GB and 16GB have now been picked up by two networks, Orange and O2 aswell as being available as SIM Free mobile phones whereas the consumer can simply buy the handset outright and unlocked to all UK networks before simply inserting their existing SIM card to retain their current mobile phone number and account details, if the user has saved their contacts to their SIM card these will also move to the new device.

The Samsung Omnia and Samsung Omnia 16GB are two of many new high specification devices to be released this year, for further details please refer to our mobile phones shop online – Phones Limited.
