Verizon launching $80 5GB prepaid data plan next month, FiveSpot too?

Category: Industry Happeningsadmin @ 4:18 pm

At present, Verizon only offers prepaid mobile broadband in buckets ranging from 100MB up to 1GB at prices from $15 to $50. Problem is, 1GB goes by in about two seconds if you’re YouTubin’ your way through a layover in Atlanta, enjoying a little too much Hulu and Pandora, or torrenting a few ISOs (perfectly legal ones, of course) — so to that end, we’re hearing that a 5GB option will be launching on August 23 for a breathtaking $80. Presumably, it’d be good for 30 days from the date of purchase the same as the current 1GB plan, though we don’t know that from the information we have. Sounds a little ridiculous to us, but we suppose that’s the price of contract freedom on a top-tier network these days.

On a related note, we’re now hearing that the FiveSpot mobile hotspot we told you about is lined up for a late August launch as well, though we don’t have an exact day, and it’ll be officially replacing the MiFi — makes sense. If you already have a MiFi and you don’t do much international travel, it doesn’t seem like there’s a compelling reason to upgrade, but globetrotters are definitely going to want to check this out.

[Thanks, RBF]

Alleged Russian spies used WiFi and pre-paid cellphones, got caught anyways

Category: Industry Happeningsadmin @ 7:17 pm
Are the new crop of Russian spies nerds like us? We doubt it (we probably have more in common with Lil Wayne than a certain “Anna Chapman,” if that is her real name). How do they do their dirty work, then? Apparently their kit is mostly off-the-shelf: including laptops and flash memory cards. According to the FBI, two of the recently accused perps would meet at a coffee shop in Manhattan every Wednesday, where one would sit inside, while they other passed by in a van. When in range, they would connect over WiFi and transfer encrypted communications over their network. (The FBI was able to sniff this out using commercial software. Had they used ultra-wideband radio, however, the investigator’s task would probably have been all but impossible). It’s also believed that the spies used pre-paid cellphones to communicate. One such unit, purchased by Chapman, had the following listed for her address: 99 Fake Street. It just goes to show you that all the gadgetry in the world will not protect you from your lack of common sense.

Virgin Mobile’s pre-paid MIFI spotted, purchased, unboxed, and photographed

Category: Industry Happeningsadmin @ 1:18 am
Sure, Virgin Mobile’s MIFI isn’t due out until Monday — but that hasn’t stopped one lucky shopper from finding one on the shelves of his local Best Buy yesterday. The enigmatic reader (only identified by the initials “NS”) even went so far as to include some unboxing pictures for our (and your) pleasure. Between this, and Sprint’s recent Beyond Talk announcement, it looks like 2010 is shaping up to be a good year for pre-paid wireless.

[Thanks, NS]

Virgin Mobile launching prepaid MiFi next week

Category: Industry Happeningsadmin @ 8:18 am

The spotlight on Sprint’s MiFi has definitely faded since the launch of the Overdrive and EVO 4G — both of which can kick it into high 4G gear when in range — but Sprint subsidiary Virgin Mobile is bringing Novatel’s groundbreaking mobile hotspot back into the forefront by taking it to the prepaid world. What that means is that you’ll be paying $149 for the MiFi itself — contract free, naturally — plus any of a number of prepaid data rates ranging from $10 for 100MB all the way up to $60 for 5GB. It’s said to be launching next Monday online and in Best Buy and Radio Shack locations — so if you’re an occasional data user, this might be about the best option on the block.

Common Cents Mobile becomes Sprint’s latest prepaid brand, exclusive to Walmart

Category: Industry Happeningsadmin @ 12:17 am

That new prepaid business for the anti-power user crowd that Sprint was fixing to launch? Yeah, it’s here and it’s official: meet Common Cents Mobile. Billed as a way to help folks “cut unnecessary costs,” Common Cents Mobile is about as simple as it gets, offering pay-as-you-go 7-cent minutes and 7-cent text messages, plus unlimited messaging for $20 a month and data for $1 per megabyte per day. The bigger news, though, might be that voice minutes round down, which is a first in the US market as far as we know (in other words, frugal customers will want to make sure they hang up 59 seconds into the minute). As you might expect, the handset selection is bare-bones and easy on the pocketbook, consisting of the LG 101 at $19.77, the Samsung M340 at $39.77, and Kyocera’s portrait QWERTY S2300 coming in at $69.77 — all totally contract-free, of course. Look for these all to launch in select Walmarts across the land starting this Saturday, May 15. Follow the break for the full press release.

Prepaid Cellular Phones

Category: G1admin @ 2:41 am

There are a number of reasons why most people choose today, with pay-stay-as-you-go phones. It is much easier to actually deal with pay-as-you-go package, since everything depends on you to continue or cancel, or service. The utility is provided in the short term, in other words, you the head. If you feel you can not switch between networks and to keep cell phone numbers. You can also choose the service is running on your own and you do not have to worry about the consequences. This is perhaps the only acceptable reason for Why pay-as-you-go cell phone plan was a success when first introduced (if I remember correctly, was somewhere around 1993). However, we must first define what is meant by “pay-as-you-go plan and makes a big difference with contract plans. We also try to use the concept behind the plans and maybe we can analyze, compare which plan is the best place to go with. Let’s start with the definition of prepaid mobile phones. “Oh yes, before I must say it’s him that” surprising “pay-as-you-go cell phone plans are not so popular in the United States, but are rapidly indicates steam. I’ll tell you why this is so later. Prepaid services are becoming more popular in Europe and the ASEAN countries. Ok so we return to our discussion. The prepaid cell phones is better defined when I explain about the standard plan. Yes, plans are well known standard in the U.S., since it is actually a link to long-term contract, which typically contain between one to two years. As far as I’m concerned, monthly installments of $ 20 to $ 35 USD. At this price must be reached somewhere around 300 minutes of airtime. More information can be bought, but higher fees. Note, however, that job-based plans are only available for purchase, if you have a credit card. The prepaid cell phones on the other side is completely different in terms of prices and value added services. With Pay-as-you-go cell phone, which are not bound by a treaty. You may cancel service at any time, or you can let it expire, if you change your mind about the service. You can say goodbye comes from the typical fine or penalty of $ 100 or 30 €, that tedious work-based plans. Despite some benefits such as free weekend and evening calls, not counting the minutes allocated, are not so easy to not really in communication through mobile phones as I do. I rarely use my cell and I was only 60 to 90 minutes on the phone. The user can add more credit to the pre-paid account at any time by an increase in the account. This may well made by a credit card transaction or debit card with the support (with text on the phone or through a third class, as a store or ATM) or by purchasing a plastic card you can get at stores like Target. The top up is equipped with a unique code (often under a scratch-off panel) that can be traded on the phone to obtain credit. credit for a pay-as-you-go mobile phones can have a grace period, for example, 90 days from the date the last credit was added. In these cases, customers do not add more credit before losing balance and can) their service (and the associated phone number may be interrupted. prepay mobile phones are better than long-term contract phone plans, since they are very flexible. You do not need a credit card to get and that’s why there are many interests of young people who get the credit shortage. can only be the prepaid card from entering the market, like the institution of money to your account. However, you must first buy a phone that will pay for the use of results-as-you-go phone plan. The phone company need to use and hang to discuss how they are made in an instant. Most people are tempted to pay-as-you-go cell phone plans because human instinct for a long time telling us anything, and a long-term blood s * cking required data plan is definitely one of them in the top list. For example if you go over your allocation of airtime will probably have to pay a premium for each additional minute. If all the minutes are not more, in which only lose, and start shooting in the coming months. There also some car services that have started to learn, to take into account the changing habits of mobile phones each month through the flexible plan. there are those who offer rollover function, but in general, many airlines have their own set of features to choose from. These plans can sometimes provide many opportunities and risks that some people find it rather confusing, however, another reason to stay in the standard plans. Another point why I prefer to use pay-as -you-go mobile phone, because they have to deal with the question of credit. Yes, that’s the reason why other people do the same. The majority of jobs based on the plan, you need good credit. In other words, if you can make a good payer, and love with the fantasy and sophisticated phones, dating a model plan subscriber contract. I do not just go for it, there is a possibility that the future I change my mind about using the product and by the time it was too late. “change or terminate the contract before the due date, I would pay the penalty. I hope I have got into the crystal light of the the pay-as-you-go phones are, and how it works. Now we can compare the pricing models for individual family plans in the planning, but also business plans. Another fact, I’d like to share is that almost two thirds of all mobile phone bills to pay as you go plans are the world. In fact, the numbers even if you pay-as-you-go plans for a long time, introduced as a pay-as – You have been introduced go-go, cell phones, the underlying products range solutions were defined, have two additional special strains on the cellular switch to a call for an inbound connection to the telephony platform and the second round of the transition to used to complete the call. tribes to remain an expensive resource in the early days and company decided to postpaid plans. As I said before use to pay for users-as-you-go cell phones, they must first acquire the right to the phone. T-Mobile are leading brands in the UK, and I think it’s catching up in the U.S. market in recent years. Let’s look at certain packages from T-Mobile in the UK. For the purposes of this analysis, I will choose the more expensive pay as you go plan from T-Mobile in the UK. The telephone number for this plan is that Sony Ericsson W880i comes in silver. The price is 99 euros . 99 and sexy slim 3G phone is really fast internet access with web’n'walk. This phone is without doubt the best choice for those who (telephones and advanced technology products are not for me, but the love lol ). Now, we have selected our phone number, take a look at the plan, if only cost you 10 pence per text. You will also receive a reward every time you open and you can always cheaper if you are calling your friends or relatives abroad. They know, as a reinforcement and passports, and once the phone and dial plan, you only buy online. They, however, that the shipping cost, and if you buy online, so They check to make sure everything before making a payment. The cheapest T-Mobile UK phone model of LG KP100. If you can purchase these calling cards, you will reach the top is 10 €, and a free € 10 T-Mobile. can take your time in the air more value to the role of reinforcement and then can only fund and with this phone, which costs only 16 euros. turn 98 and you can use the phone. There is also an option for you optimizing telephone. I will also discuss this in my next post. I am especially happy with the new T-Mobile G1, the three different set of navigation options have. There are also some disadvantages of using pay – as -you-go mobile phones, but still relatively save your money if you use it, instead of paying the current bills for telecommunications providers. can tailor the calls and SMS, which costs a payment plan slightly higher than the regular mail.

I am a leader in the mobile network MyMod and my goal is to provide useful information on prepaid cell phones and their benefits.
