We didn’t catch any glimpses of an Optimus Pad or anything even close to the monstrous 180-inch plasma we’ve been hearing about, but a quick stroll through LG’s still-under-construction facilities at IFA today revealed the kiosk for its insanely thin 31-inch 3D OLED television, whose price (if it ever even hits retail, that is) is likely to make even Black Card holders squirm. All told, LG’s booth consumes an entire floor of one of Messe Berlin’s many halls, so it’s a big one; the emphasis is clearly on its flat panel TVs, though there are dedicated areas for its Blu-ray gear and store kiosk solution as well. More on all this after the show opens on Friday, no doubt!

Sony’s website is slowly ticking down the hours, minutes and seconds until the company’s latest product launch, but like all other Sony teasers in recent memory, there’s little real doubt. If references to “X10″ peppered through the site’s source code left any doubt, this picture should clear it up — mark our words, that’s an Xperia X10 underneath the clock. Apparently the four-inch Android smartphone is finally ready for its US debut, though whether it’s “smarter” or no will probably depend on which version of the OS it ships with. Expect an AT&T launch, and be sure to read our full review.

We’ll be honest with you, we thought the GTX 480 was finally a graphics core too damn large and power-hungry to get the dual-GPU treatment. ASUS, however, is making us think again. Imagery has emerged of a Mars 2 (or II, if you’re into outdated numbering schemes) reference board that fits two 480s on its densely populated surface, and is fed by not one, not two, but three 8-pin auxiliary power connectors. Back when Galaxy showed off a dual-GTX 470 prototype at Computex a month ago, we deemed it an unreasonable proposition — in terms of power draw, heat dissipation, and cost — but apparently those Taiwanese focus groups are really into their extravagantly overpowered video cards. We suspect if and when this Mars 2 hits retail it’ll do so in a highly exclusive fashion, like its predecessor, and anticipate the unveiling of its cooler — which is likely to be either the biggest or best engineered one we’ve seen yet.

Is this the honest-to-goodness iPhone 4 jailbreak we’ve been waiting for, or just another userland JB? It’s hard to say from here… but either way, don’t expect Geohot to release it into the wild. In a mildly jaded blog post, the original iPhone hacker makes it clear that whatever he did here was for his own amusement, and judging by the title of that entry (”Meh”) the whole breaking-and-entering bit isn’t giving him quite the same chuckles it used to. That’s a shame, but we hear the iPhone Dev Team is making progress apace, so let’s leave Geohot to tackle one of his other promised hacks, mmmkay?

We were extremely close to cramping our sarcasm muscle with all the faux excitement we had to drum up for the 3.2-inch Acclaim, but US Cellular has now come back with word that it’ll soon count HTC’s Desire among its roster of phones. The Desire, which is mooted to be coming to other smaller carriers like Cellular South, will debut in August alongside the BlackBerry Bold. We’re more excited, however, to find US Cellular promising it’ll offer “a BlackBerry flip smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard” later this year. That sounds like RIM’s slightly unorthodox 9670 to us, and will probably form the second part of the BB maker’s pledged introduction of two new handsets. US Cellular’s 2010 device lineup refresh will be completed with a pair more Androids, courtesy of LG and Samsung. The former is said to have a “large touch screen and slide-out, ergonomically-designed QWERTY keyboard,” while the latter is only described as “highly-anticipated.” Not too shabby.

It’s no secret that Samsung wants to spread its high-end Galaxy S far and wide, but the exact details of its US attack have been a mystery thus far. TmoNews is reporting a “trusted source” as saying that the phone is pegged for a launch on T-Mobile on July 21, which matches up with some chatter we’ve been hearing as well. Though T-Mobile’s been supporting Android as aggressively as any carrier in the world, the company lacks a hero device — something akin to the Droid Incredible or EVO 4G — so it would stand to reason that Samsung’s best Android gear to date would be a good fit over there. Nothing wrong with a Super AMOLED display in a sub-10mm shell, now, is there? In the meantime, we’ve been invited to an event on June 29 to see “the next generation in Android smartphones” from Sammy, so we’re hoping for some more details then — and naturally, we’ll be on hand.

Just in case you were wondering where and when you might get a taste of the Optimus elixir, NVIDIA has handed us a detailed list of Computex debutants that will be taking the graphics switching technology with them to retail. A total of sixteen new Optimus machines are on show in Taipei, and although ASUS is still the biggest purveyor (with six SKUs, not counting previously announced products), Lenovo and Acer have also jumped on board, with the IdeaPad Y460 and a pair of Packard Bell EasyNotes, respectively. Notably, the FX700 above from MSI is marked as using an “unannounced” next-gen graphics chip, which we suspect might be the 460M, a mobile GPU that NVIDIA is showing, but not talking about yet. Guess that’ll be slotting in just below the recently unveiled GTX 480M. We’re working on grabbing a picture of that chip for you, but for now, check out the Optimus-ized machines in the gallery below and the full list after the break.

Acer’s been busy doing a presentation over in the United Arab Emirates today, and the highlight of the show was the first sighting of the company’s 7-inch Android tablet. It’s described by Shufflegazine as “pretty fast with sensitive touch,” though CEO Gianfranco Lanci was apparently reluctant to disclose any of the specs. He told the gathered press to expect it in the fourth quarter of this year, which sounds all kinds of 2000-and-late, but we have to consider the fact that only a couple of months ago Acer was telling us it wasn’t going to enter the tablet realm at all. What’s interesting is that Lanci described network operators as an “obvious” sales channel, suggesting the slate has an integrated 3G module, while it also looks like the silvery bottom of the device is occupied by a QWERTY keyboard not unlike that found on Amazon’s Kindle. Interesting times lie ahead, that’s for sure.

Harmonix hasn’t been dishing out a ton of Rock Band 3 details lately apart from confirming that it’ll be out this holiday season, but it just revealed a big one in the demo for Green Day: Rock Band. If that not so subtle teaser above is any indication, it looks like Rock Band 3 will be adding keyboards to the equation. Nothing more to go on than that at the moment, but we can only assume this also means that Activision will soon be hard at work on Keytar Hero, and that “Axel F” will be stuck in your head starting right…. now.
